    Just fast 18-20hrs every other day (intermittent fasting) and cut off unnecessary carbs and you'll become insulin sensitive (reverse insulin resistance/t2d). By doing so, ur blood glucose levels will lower and become stable and your brain starts to use ketones as primary source of fuel. This will prevent t2d and t3d (dementia). You will also enhance autophagy (cell regeneration), believe it or not. There's plenty of information available, for example Dr. Sten Ekberg in YouTube.
